The hospice care nurse, Elfrida (?) Ponce de Leon, RN, came this afternoon after I spoke with the triage nurse on duty at Delaware Hospice, Lucy Mealey, RN, wife of the owner of the funeral home. I was at Rite Aid getting orange juice for dad when Art arrived from his Baltimore sojourn where 500 specialists in endocrinology, mostly, discussed diabetes.
Just added this post to Facebook after last night's act of wanton helpfulness and kindness from Dennis toward my father:Kudos to Delaware Hospice ... I call them two days before a concert date in Wilmington and they get a volunteer to sit at my home to watch my parents. Dennis arrives in the drizzle and dark, umbrella overhead asking for Mr. Nyhoff. I usher him into the house.
Well, not only did he sit, but my father took a quiet trip downstairs and Dennis responded incredibly well and so competently. He settled him down and escorted him back up the steps in this foreign house and back into his bed. What an act of kindness and selfless giving. This quote from the bard himself seemed to say it all:
“How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world.” ― William Shakespeare
Thank you Dennis. I hope to learn your last name and address to send you a proper, written thank you. A "Thank You" text is inadequate.
